GUWAHATI: A man was fatally stabbed in a dramatic event that occurred on March 8, within the Doul Govinda temple complex in Bongaigaon's Pallirtal Palpara during Holi celebrations.


According to reports, on Wednesday night, four people got into a fight while distributing "prasad" within the temple. But it's not known about what actually sparked the altercation.

A young person attacked three with a sharp knife during the ensuing altercation and fatally stabbed one of them. Tarani Das has been identified as the deceased.

Two more people who were at the temple at the same time suffered significant wounds and were sent to the hospital for care. When Tarani Das was attacked with a knife at the temple by the suspect, identified as Krishna Sheel, Robin Chandra Sheel and Sadhan Pal both sustained injuries.

As soon as the cops were informed about the incident, Jogighopa police and other police officials arrived at the scene start looking into the matter. 

Meanwhile, the accused Krishna Sheel was taken into police custody. 

Recently, a matter came to light from Tinsukia, where miscreants fatally stabbed a suspected drug dealer in broad daylight. The incident happened in the district's Kakopathar village.

Bhaikon Sonowal was named as the deceased (42). Bhaikon and two other people, according to sources, got into a furious disagreement over something, and one of the criminals pulled out a sharp item and stabbed the victim in the chest and stomach.

But two criminals later rode away from the scene on a bike. Bhaikon Sonowal was pronounced deceased by medical professionals at the primary health centre after police quickly arrived on the spot.

According to accounts, police searched the neighbourhood around Doomdooma and detained two suspects. The two Doomdooma residents who were arrested have been named as Rahul Baruah (20) and Rajiv Karmakar.
