GUWAHATI: A new picnic spot was inaugurated at Manas National Park, which is situated next to the picturesque Beki River, welcoming the winter season in Assam on the morning of December 20.

Located within the Bahbari range of this UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Nayanguri area, the site is intended to draw picnickers and nature lovers.

The Forest Picnic Management Committee was present during the inaugural ceremony, along with several other local committees.

Parking costs vary for various vehicle types, and there is plenty of parking available at the recently constructed location to accommodate guests. Parking costs are Rs 50 for two-wheelers, Rs 500 for buses, Rs 400 for travellers, Rs 300 for magic vehicles, and Rs 200 for private four-wheelers.

Safaris and rafting are among the other activities available to visitors, making the place the ideal combination of leisure and natural discovery. For the convenience of all picnickers, the location has separate restrooms for men and women.

It is anticipated that this new project would increase Manas National Park tourism while offering a clean area for families and groups to enjoy throughout the winter months.

As the picnic season approaches, the Assam Police released a series of instructions on Wednesday for individuals planning outdoor gatherings. The guidelines emphasise the significance of road safety measures to ensure a fun and safe experience.

It is recommended that a non-drinking driver be assigned for the journey. The regulations mandate that two-wheelers wear helmets and car occupants wear seat belts while obeying speed limits and traffic restrictions.

Additionally, before leaving, all groups are required to notify their local police station of the specifics of their trip, including the place of departure and the final destination. Driving dangerously while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs is highly prohibited on mountainous or narrow roads that lead to picnic locations, and violations will result in legal consequences.

The use of goods carriers, such as lorries, for passenger transportation is likewise discouraged. Travelling in bad weather, including heavy fog or rain, and playing loud music are discouraged.
