Assam: Mandatory For All Govt Employees To Be Vaccinated In 3 Days

Guwahati: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued a new set of SOPs for rural and urban areas at 11am on September 1. The SOPs were implemented with immediate effect. The SOPs state that only those government employees (including contractual and  who fixed pay) have administered at least the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine can attend office.

The Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta had informed that the SOPs will be effective from 11 am of September 1. 

The health minister further added, "Covid-19 cases are well under control now. We have given maximum relaxations subject to strict adherence to the Covid-19 protocol. If the Covid-19 protocol goes for a toss, we have no way out but to impose tough restrictions. Thus it depends on the public – if they want tough restrictions or a gradual unlock."

The SOPs also read that all government employees, with the exception of those whose case are contra-indicated as per guidelines issued by the Health Department of the state government, and for such claim is certified by a registered medical practitioner, must get themselves vaccinated within three days from the date of issue of the order and attend office.

It also further read that all employees engaged in emergency/essential services shall attend their duty without any restriction at any place.

 In addition, the private or government organisation rendering essential/emergency services, law enforcement services and election work will continue to work without any restrictions in all districts.
