MANGALDAI: Geet Chanda Rabha, a student of Brilliant Academy, Mangaldai, who recently passed the HS final examination in the Arts stream with 82.6% marks and letters in four subjects, donated a total of Rs 3,314 to the Karunadhara Trust on Sunday. Daughter of Bhabendra Rabha and Niru Daloi Rabha, residents of Milanpur of Mangaldai, Geet Chanda saved money by setting aside a portion of the pocket money given by her parents for school tiffin and carefully preserving small amounts gifted by relatives. She stored these savings in a clay piggy bank. On Sunday, in the presence of Mukul Chandra Deka, President of Karunadhara Darrang District Committee, Ganesh Dutta, Chief Secretary, and members including entrepreneur Jutika Nath, Prafulla Dev Sharma, Prastuti Bhattacharya, Trishna Hazarika of Gyan Bikash Academy, and her mother Niru Daloi Rabha, Geet Chanda broke the piggy bank and donated the amount to the Karunadhara Trust’s fund.

During a brief ceremony, Geet Chanda Rabha was honoured with a traditional Assamese gamosa and a packet of sweets. Mukul Chandra Deka, President of Karunadhara Darrang District Committee, remarked, “Many people voluntarily contribute to the Karunadhara Trust. However, Geet Chanda Rabha’s contribution is unique and unparalleled. The fact that a student’s heart is filled with compassion and humanity is truly praiseworthy.” He further noted that through the Karunadhara Trust, which has stirred heartfelt emotions, approximately Rs 4.8 crore has been provided to individuals suffering from critical illnesses and those with special abilities, inspiring them to keep living. Notably, meritorious student Geet Chanda Rabha had previously broken her piggy bank twice to contribute to the Karunadhara Trust. In 2020, the Trust’s founder, eminent litterateur, and journalist Homen Borgohain visited Mangaldai to personally bless the student for her efforts.
