KHERONI: A significant political event unfolded on Friday as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) welcomed 1,223 party workers from various political backgrounds, including Congress, All Party Hills Leader’s Conference (APHLC), Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), and Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation CPI (ML), into its fold during a Mass Joining Programme. The event, organized by the BJP Kopili Mandal Committee under the 111 No. Rongkhang Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC), took place at Langsibu Aklam, Phelangpi, West Karbi Anglong in the 7 No. Kopili Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency, represented by two-term MAC Pawan Kumar.

The programme was graced by Dr Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), as the chief guest. In his address, Dr Ronghang warmly welcomed the new members, emphasizing the growing public trust in BJP’s developmental agenda under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam’s Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. He assured the attendees that grievances outlined in a submitted memorandum would be addressed promptly.

Dr Ronghang criticized Congress and APHLC for misleading the masses for political gains, noting that the public has become increasingly aware of such tactics and is now aligning with BJP’s vision. The event saw the participation of 360 families, further strengthening BJP’s grassroots presence in the Kopili constituency and surrounding areas.

Distinguished dignitaries in attendance included Amarsing Tisso, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), MLAs Rupsing Teron (Baithalangso), Bidya Sing Engleng (Diphu), and Dorsing Ronghang (Howraghat), along with several Executive Members (EMs), MACs, Board Chairmen of KAAC, and prominent BJP leaders from Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. Radip Ronghang, President of the BJP West Karbi Anglong District Committee, district and mandal committee office bearers, booth committee members, and active party workers were also present.

The mass joining programme underscored a strong show of unity and trust in BJP’s leadership, marking a pivotal moment for the party’s expansion in the region.
