Assam: Massive Fire Broke Out in Sivasagar Market, No Casualties Reported

GUWAHATI: On Tuesday morning, a large fire broke out at a clothing store in the Sivasagar market district of Assam. Police and firefighters reportedly arrived on the scene quickly to carry out an operation to put out the fire and handle the situation. The local police reported that the situation is now under control and that there have been no casualties or injuries to date.

On the other hand, the large fire that erupted at the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Assam's Golaghat district has been put out. Monday night about 7:20 p.m., NRL experienced a fire issue in the vessel VV-4 of their Hydrocracker unit.

But quick action from the refinery's firefighting crew effectively subdued the blaze. Fortunately, there haven't been any reports of casualties or injuries from the incident.

Additionally, the explosion was so large that shockwaves could be felt up to seven kilometres distant from the refinery. Following the incident, workers at the refinery rushed out the gates in large groups, according to site sources.

According to a report, since the final week of March, the Numaligarh Refinery had been shut down for maintenance and repairs and the plant-wise startup procedure started on May 15th, and the Hydrocracker unit is currently in the stabilization phase.

On 13 May, at least 20 shops and other business facilities were destroyed in the large fire that tore through the Ratanpur bazaar area of Hailakandi in Assam. The event on Thursday night at midnight, according to officials, destroyed business property worth Rs. Crore. Local neighbours and the fire service worked together to put out the fire.

Although the cause of the fire is uncertain, locals have a suspicion that an electrical short circuit may have caused it. However, the owners of the wrecked businesses blamed the local government for the area's shoddy electrical connections and demanded compensation.
