Assam: Massive Fire Erupted In Lokhra, Properties Worth Rupees Lakhs Destroyed

GUWAHATI : A tragic episode took place on 15th of January, Sunday, which resulted in destruction of several properties in Guwahati's Lokhra area. 

A massive fire erupted at a residential place in the area on Sunday night. A women named Archana Terongpi was renting the place.

The fire flames had quickly spread, giving rise to a cylinder explosion. Properties worth rupees lakhs were destroyed during the incident. Each and every item inside the house was burnt into ashes.

However, no loss of life has been reported from the incident. A team of fire tenders rushed to the spot and calmed down the fire.

As per the reports, it took almost an hour to tranquillise the situation by the team. Meanwhile, it came to light that the house was empty when the episode occurred on Sunday night. The cause of fire outbreak been suspected due to short circuit by the officials present at the spot.

A similar outbreak of fire took place on Saturday in Guwahati's Kahilipara area. Several cylinders got exploded following the fire eruption in a residential place. The house was located in Jotia, near a petrol pump.

According to sources, three LPGs bursted one after the other during the event. However the accurate cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. Half of the house was burnt down to ashes leading to a major loss in properties.

Fortunately, no loss of lives has been reported from this episode. A fire brigade arrived at the spot, however, according to sources it took the team more than an hour to turn the fire into peace. Another incident took place in Guwahati's Paltan Bazar area leading to destruction of various businesses.

The episode occurred on 4th of January, 2023. As per the reports, eight shops along with several other trading establishments were gutted in the fire. Several fire tenders rushed to the spot and tried to tranquillise the scenario.
