Assam: Massive Fire Guts House in Guwahati’s Noonmati; Loss Estimated at ₹30 Lakh

GUWAHATI: A devastating fire in the Bishnupur, Noonmati area of Guwahati, caused extensive damage and created widespread panic. The blaze consumed the entire house and destroyed all possessions belonging to one family.

The fire started suddenly from an adjacent thatched house to Mintu Bhuyan's brick-built house. At the time of the incident, his family was reportedly not at home. The fire is believed to have started due to a short circuit.

The house walls facing the street became a burning inferno soon after a gas cylinder inside exploded. Mintu Bhuyan's house was completely enveloped in flames after the first gas cylinder exploded, followed by a second cylinder detonation, which ensured complete destruction of the property. Within moments, all belongings of the house became charred ashes.

The residents of the area took prompt action to report the fire incident to firefighters. Firefighters brought three water tenders when they arrived on the fire scene and finally suppressed the flames. Firefighters arrived at the right moment to stop the fire from damaging surrounding houses.

The fire reportedly caused damage worth approximately 30 lakh. Authorities revealed that a short circuit in electrical wiring was responsible for the fire. The people remain in a state of shock while expressing concern about the incident.
