Assam: Massive Haul Of Drugs And Cash Seized In Golaghat, Three Arrested

GOLAGHAT: Acting on a tip off, Golaghat Police successfully executed an anti-drug operation in Kulajan, within the jurisdiction of Merapani Police Station. During the operation, authorities seized a substantial quantity of illicit substances, including 420 SAMPEX+ capsules, 10 Nitrazepam tablets, heroin, cash, and mobile phones.

Following the initial seizure, police conducted further questioning, which led to a second raid. In this follow-up operation, officers recovered 753 SAMPEX+ capsules weighing 501 grams, 6 grams of heroin hidden in a soap case, 9 mobile phones, and Rs. 5,63,345 in cash.

As a result of the operation, one male and two female drug peddlers were arrested. Legal action has been initiated, and the investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, earlier last month, in a significant operation, the team of Golaghat Police had conducted an anti-drug operation under Golaghat PS, leading to the seizure of 18.56 grams of heroin. The operation also led to the arrest of 2 male and 1 female drug peddler.

Golaghat police had conducted their second major drug disposal operation in three weeks, destroying seized narcotics valued over Rs 12 lakh at Golaghat police reserve earlier on January 18.

Golaghat SP Rajen Singh, who had led the disposal procedure alongside other senior police officials, had overseen the incineration of heroin and cannabis seized during various operations across the district between Jan 1 and Jan 17.
