Assam: Matri Sanmilan and Saikhik Mela held in Sivasagar district

GAURISAGAR: The SMC and Mother Group of Phukan Phadia Bez Gaon Adarsha LP school, on the outskirts of Gaurisagar under Amguri Elementary Education Block in Sivasagar district, organized a day-long Saikhik Mela and Matri Sanmilan on Friday. The programme started with hoisting of the flag by Indu Duwari, Headmistress of the school, while smriti tarpan programme was performed by Satyajit Gogoi, President, SMC, and Madhusmita Changmai, President, School Mother Group.

Later, Parasar Saikia, BEEO, Amguri Elementary Education Block, inaugurated the Saikhik mela. Thereafter, Matri Sanmilan was held. Ganesh Chandra Bodo, Assistant Collector, Sivasagar, participated as a chief guest. In the meeting, young social worker, teacher, and Chief Admin of Anushilan, a popular social media group, Srimanta Dutta took part as the keynote speaker. In his speech, Dutta urged mothers to behave friendly with their children.

The meeting was also attended by Ashim Kumar Baruah, District Planning Office (DPO) of Community Mobilization, Samagra Siksha, Sivasagar, Rajib Dutta, Senior Journalist and Secretary, Gaurisagar Press Club, and Kaustuvmoni Kakoti, Bureau Chief, ND-24, Upper Assam, as distinguished guests. The speakers mentioned the importance and role of mothers in teaching their children at home.

In the meeting, Ranjit Bora, CRCC, Mumai Tamuli Zonal Resource Center, Bubul Saikia, former headmaster of the school, and Bijoy Das, CRCC, Sivasagar Nagar Zonal Resource Center, were present as guests of honour. Earlier, the whole programme was anchored by Indrajit Borgohain, Assistant Teacher of the school while Headmistress Indu Duwari gave the welcome speech. The event was attended by the women of the mother group who performed Dihanaam and Bia Naam while the students of the school performed songs, dances, and Dihanaam.
