NAGAON: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has launched an empowering initiative called “Women for Water, Water for Women Campaign” under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) on Tuesday.

The campaign in collaboration with National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) is scheduled to celebrate “Jal Diwali” till November 9. As a part of the programme, the Office of the City Management Unit of Assam State Urban Livelihoods Mission Society (DAY-NULM), Nagaon Municipality Board, organised the “Jal Diwali” celebration at the Water Treatment Plant located at Amulapatty in the town on Tuesday. Over 30 women SHG members took part in this day-long programme where the participants got the opportunity to visit Water Treatment Plant. The visit was aimed at providing them with an understanding of various processes involved in supplying clean and safe drinking water to households and also got a chance to create a platform for women to actively participate in water governance.
