Assam: Minor Kidnapped from Duliajan Recovered in Bongaigaon
A thorough investigation was initiated after the advice of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

GUWAHATI : Dibrugarh police registered a major success when a team rescued the 17 year old minor girl allegedly kidnapped from Duliajan, in Assam's Bongaigaon district on Wednesday. As per the reports, the girl was allegedly kidnapped by a married Muslim man on 31st of December 2022.
The matter made the headlines after a person named Manoj Bajaj tweeted about the incident. In his tweet he mentioned that a Marwari Hindu girl has been abducted by a married Muslim man under Duliajan police station. He appealed to the CM to look into the matter and get the girl rescued.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, after receiving the tweet, had directed Dibrugarh police department to initiate a thorough investigation regarding the kidnapping case. A missing complaint was filed with the police on 1st of January about the 17 year old minor girl by her father.
On Wednesday, the special director general of police, GP Singh informed that the 17 year old girl has been rescued from Bongaigaon and will be safely sent to her family.
GP Singh tweeted,"The girl kidnapped from Duliajan - Dibrugarh has been recovered at Bongaigaon and would be reunited with family. Well done @bongaigaonpolic @dibrugarhpolice."
The girl had allegedly been kidnapped by a person at Duliajan in Dibrugarh district of Assam. The victim is a 17 year old girl. The person who allegedly abducted her has been identified as Jahidul Ali. The father, who lodged the complaint is Bharat Agarwal, a resident of Duliajan.
He stated on the FIR that the girl went for her regular tuition classes in Gogoi market on 31st of December. She went at around 6pm in the evening. However, an alarm was raised when she did not return home since then. Moreover she had stopped responding to the phone calls of her family members.
The father alleged that Jahidul Ali has abducted his daughter, as he disappeared and went missing since that evening. Nevertheless, no names has been mentioned in the police complaint against the so- called kidnapper.
Bitul Chetia, additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Dibrugarh district confirmed that the minor girl had been kidnapped on the 31st of December 2022. A search operation was conducted by the concerned department, as stated by the ASP.
The matter did not stay confined to the region. One dramatic case of kidnapping was registered last year in the month of December. The matter came from Assam's Jorhat district. However, police nabbed the criminals within just 24 hours.
