
DHUBRI: Assam's Special Task Force apprehended a nefarious anti-national individual as part of the ongoing special operations against terrorists under the campaign "PRAGHAT". The 'jihadi' was nabbed during an operation conducted on the morning of December 27 at Bandhabpara, Bilasipara in Assam's Dhubri District.
The arrested person has been identified as 36-year-old Shahinur Islam, a resident of Bandhabpara Part II, Bilasipara, Dhubri. He was arrested as a result of this operation which was aimed at a wider investigation under STF PS Case No 21/2024.
Among the various items seized, two books containing suspected Jihadi content were also found. Among the retrieved one was titled Nuriliza (written in Urdu) and another, Jana Wazib (written by Sheikh Nazibullah Hakkani). Apart from the books, the confiscated documents also contained other personal items belonging to Shahinur Islam, which includes a PAN card, an Aadhaar card, a passport as well as his mobile phone.
It is worth noting that all legal and procedural steps are being taken by the STF as they continue their investigation into the case. The STF assured that safety measures and security steps have been taken in order to protect the state from anti-national activities.
Meanwhile, in a similar security operation, Assam's Special Task Force, in coordination with Kokrajhar Police, conducted a raid and search operation at Namapara, Kokrajhar, on the night of December 24, 2024, under 'Operation Praghat.'
The operation was carried out successfully, foiling a planned terror attack orchestrated by extremist elements aligned with a Global Terrorist Organisation. STF ensured timely action which prevented a grave threat to national security.
The operation was in connection with an ongoing investigation into STF-PS Case No. 21/2024, which was registered on December 10, 2024, relating to members of the ABT/AQIS terrorist group.
