NAGAON: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Assam Regional Office, Guwahati, is sponsoring one Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) training on millet-based food processing activity at Kaki in Hojai district.
The training programme was inaugurated by Rajendar Perna, DDM, NABARD, at the village knowledge centre, 2 No Kaki, in the presence of District Agriculture Officer Ranjit Mishra Bhagawati, LDM, Hojai Mousam. Neel Bora, BM, PNB, Kaki, Ramraj Meena, Master Trainer, Ityadi Hazarika, and Secretary of Gramya Unnayan Santha, Mukut Deka.
In his inaugural speech, Rajendar Perna, DDM, NABARD, informed that LEDPs envisage the conduct of livelihood promotion programmes in clusters with provisions for intensive skill-building trainings, refresher trainings, backward-forward linkages, and handholding & escort supports. LEDPs encompass a complete value chain and offer end-to-end solutions. He further informed us that the LEDP on millet-based food processing activity will be conducted for 60 members of matured SHGs (in 02 batches of 30 participants each).
In addition to training sessions on record and book keeping, enterprise management, business dynamics, etc., the LEDP will have practical sessions regarding the manufacturing of processed food items like cakes, cookies, biscuits, nimki, ready-to-eat products, etc. The training is expected to upgrade the technical & entrepreneurial skills of the trainees so that they can start their own micro units. He concluded his speech by requesting the bankers to come forward and extend credit support to the interested trainees either through the group mode of financing or through Mudra loans or the PMEGP loans so that they can set up their own micro units.
