LUMDING: The Power Minster of Assam, Nandita Gorlosa attended a students’ event in the Lumding town of Hojai district on Saturday. However, she was seen avoiding questions regarding the power situation of the state during the event.

The Lumding Unit of the Dimasa Students’ Association had organised a freshers event to welcome the new students to the institution. The Power Minister attended the event as the chief guest.

Over 300 students of the Nagaon, Dima Hasao, and Karbi Anglong who have gone there for their education, were welcomed to the institution during the event. Speaking on the occasion, the minister instructed all the students to study hard and ensure their bright future.

Meanwhile, the minister was seen avoiding the questions regarding the problems of her department as asked by the media people present at the location.

The minister on Friday on Friday had flagged off the 'All Women Motorcycle Expedition-2023' at Group Centre CRPF Guwahati. As part of the celebration of Naari Shakti of the Nation, CRPP organized the CRPF Women Bike Expedition from various parts of the country which shall cover approximately 10,000 km across the length and breadth of the nation and culminate at the iconic Statue of Unity at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. There are three teams of women expedition being flagged off from Srinagar, Shillong and Kanyakumari. Each team will comprise of 25 Bikes with 50 women personnel who will traverse the length and breadth of the country during this journey.

The event was conducted despite the gloomy weather and rainfall with wholehearted support and cooperation from the Department of WCD. Rubi Sarma, State Mission Co- ordinator State hub for empowerment of women, Santosh Kutum, District Social Welfare Officer, Kamrup (M) attended the flagging-off programme on behalf of the Department of WCD, government of Assam. Women bikers will carry the message of Women empowerment and Unity. The Women bikers will cover 15 States and 2 Union Territories of the nation during the expedition.
