KOKRAJHAR: A national level seminar on ‘Indian knowledge system and Globalization: Preserving cultural Identity’ was held at the auditorium hall of Janata College, Serfanguri in Kokrajhar district on Saturday. The seminar was organized by the English Department of Janata College and BHB College, Sarupeta in collaboration with the IQA of Janata College and Kokrajhar district Xahitya Xabha .
According to the programme, the seminar was inaugurated by the Acting Principal of the college Bithorai Brahma and chaired by Dr Romeo Routin Lockbak, Professor of English Department, Janata College, and also IQAC Coordinator.
In the inaugural session, Dr Barnali Shikdar, Head of the Department of English, delivered the keynote address where Dr Zothanchhingi Khingte, Assistant Professor of English Department, Bodoland University, Dr Nayanjyoti Das, Principal of BHB College, Sarupeta, Padma Shri Dr Anil Kumar Boro, Professor of the Department of Folklore Research, Gauhati University, and Dr Arnav Boll, Associate Professor of Surya Sen College, Siliguri, West Bengal, delivered theoretical and insightful lectures on the prescribed topic of the seminar. Researchers from various colleges presented their papers on the main theme of the seminar and made the national level seminar more pleasing. The event was attended by over a hundred researchers from various colleges.
The students of the college performed a colourful traditional dance in the technical session. At the closing ceremony, the presenters of research papers were given certificates by the distinguished resource persons of the seminar. The event was also attended by Dr Leena Sharma, Vice-President of Janata College, Dr Chirati Swargayari, Prof Bibha Rani Nath, Prof Nabamoni Saikia of BHB College, Sarat Deka, Secretary to Kokrajhar District Committee of Axam Xahitya Xabha, other professors of Janata College and BHB College, and the students of Janata College.
