

GAURISAGAR: With a view to introduce women to their inner capacity and make them independent and employment ready, the Social Science Research Cell of Jhanji Hem Nath Sarmah College organized a national-level workshop on ‘Capacity Building and Personality Development’ on Thursday for female undergraduate and postgraduate students in association with college Women Cell and NSS Unit sponsored by the National Commission For Women.
Dr Manjit Gogoi, Principal of the college, delivered his welcome speech while Dr Santana Dutta, Coordinator of Social Science Research Cell, anchored the whole programme. Dr Archana Bhattacharyya, retired Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English,
Kakojan College graced the occasion as resource person of the workshop and stressed certain aspects of women empowerment. She focused on capacity building and personality development. In the second technical session, addressing the girl students, Debashis Sarmah,
Director of Career Choice, one of the premier social organizations of the State, highlighted the keys of information, thought, belief and attitude for capacity building and personality development. He also dwelt length on leadership development.
Dr Shahiuj Zaman Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Department of History, SPP College, Namti took part as resource person and delivered his speech on ‘Digital Literary and Effective Use of Social Media’. At the end of the examination session, Sajidul Haque Borborah, associate professor and Head of the Department of History, Jhanji HNS College, participated as a resource person. A total of 300 undergraduate and postgraduate girl students hailing from various colleges of Sivasagar and Jorhat districts took part in the workshop and exchanged their views with the resource persons.
