Assam: Natun Sahitya Parishad of Sonitpur announces awards

The undivided Sonitpur District committee of Natu Sahitya Parishad decided to confer the Sonitpur Gaurav Award to Dharanidhar Das, a renowned artiste, writer and socio-cultural activist.

JAMUGURIHAT: The undivided Sonitpur District committee of Natu Sahitya Parishad decided to confer the Sonitpur Gaurav Award to Dharanidhar Das, a renowned artiste, writer and  socio-cultural activist. The Rupantoror Senani Award will be conferred to Dr Dilip Kumar Baruah. He is a known children literature writer of books for children and a social worker. In a press conference held recently, the awards were declared by Gyanendra Sarkar and Mrinal Goswami , president and secretary of Natun Sahitya Parishad of undivided Sonitpur district committee respectively.

Sonitpur Gaurav awardee Dharanidhar Das is a renowned artiste, author of many articles on social problems, editor of many magazines and a famous sculpture. Together with the locals, he founded Biswanath Chitra Kala Kendra. He has also been an honorary principal of the art college and Abhijatri Chitra Kala Vidyalaya in Jamugurihat, and he has been involved in numerous other sociocultural endeavours for the sake of public service. Dilip Kumar Baruah is a renowned author of books for children. He has written more than twenty books for children. He is also the author of many novels, dramas, songs, and one act plays for children. Baruah was born in 1956 at Behali of present day Biswanath District and started his literary career as newspaper reporter and wrote more than 3000 articles on social issues so far. The Sonitpur Gaurav award and the Rupantoror Senani Award will be conferred to Dharanidhar Das and to Dilip Kumar Baruah on December 25 in the 43rd Annual conference of Natun Sahitya Parishad Sonitpur District committee to be held at Nasbor Ronga Mancha in Behali.
