DOOMDOOMA: Doomdooma MLA and Cabinet Minister for Labour Welfare, Tea Tribes and Tribal Welfare and Home Affairs of the Government of Assam Rupesh Gowal formally handed over to the Doomdooma 30-Bedded FRU on Saturday the ambulance purchased at a cost of Rs 7,50,000 from his MLA’s Local Area Development Fund (2023-24) for the convenience of the patients.

Speaking at a special function held at the hospital premises, Minister Rupesh Gowala said that the new ambulance service henceforth would add a new dimension to the health care services of the people. He also said that in view of Doomdooma becoming a Co-District, Assam Government had taken the decision to establish a new PH Block hospital i.e. Block level Primary Health Centre (PHC) at its new Block that would come up within the Co-District for providing health care facilities to rural people.

The minister also inspected the hospital and gave necessary instructions. The event was attended by Doomdooma Municipal Board Chairperson Kanta Bhattacharya, Vice-Chairman Moni Dutta, several municipal ward councillors, In-Charge of the hospital SDMO Dr Asma Gajanvi, prominent social worker Arjun Baruah, members of the hospital management committee, and several prominent persons of the area.

The Oil India Limited (OIL) also donated another ambulance to the hospital a few days ago. So, one would now be utilized for carrying patients to long-distance destinations while the other could be operated locally, said Minister Gowala in his lecture.
