

GUWAHATI: The new medical college in Guwahati will finally starts its limited services today, which marks a giant leap forward in the improvement of health facilities in Assam. It will offer the most basic medical services while addressing the health needs of the community simultaneously.
Along with opening a medical college, the Assam government has initiated a cancer screening programme for one crore people. This program will diagnose and treat cancer at the early stages. So, better treatment outcomes are likely to result in greater awareness of the disease.
There shall be a portal for a Human Resource Management System for health workers to manage health care personnel across the state with ease. The coordination, training, and resources for the health workers will also be streamlined so that healthcare service delivery is increased in efficiency.
The launching of these initiatives, therefore, goes on to show the government's efforts to provide better access and quality in health care in Assam. In the new medical college and other programs, public health is expected to make giant leaps forward, particularly with regard to cancer prevention and workforce management.
