SOOTEA: Nine commercial buildings in Balijuri, Sootea, were destroyed by a large fire that started on Monday morning. A jewellery store, a hotel, a bicycle shop, and several other businesses were completely destroyed by the abrupt fire.

When the gas cylinders kept inside the hotel exploded, escalating the fire and impeding firefighting efforts, the situation took a sharp turn for the worse. Although the precise cause of the fire is still being investigated, locals think it may have been started by an electrical short circuit.

Firefighters arrived at the scene, albeit a little late, and managed to contain the fire, sparing nearby buildings from additional damage. In order to identify the exact cause of the devastating fire, authorities are currently evaluating the extent of the damage and carrying out a comprehensive investigation.

The estimated value of property losses is atleast worth lakhs of rupees. Seven persons have been critically injured in a terrible fire that broke out during a wedding ceremony close to Tinsukia Law College.

After receiving treatment at Tinsukia Civil Hospital, the afflicted individuals—Rekha Devi, Manju Devi, Kartik Prasad, Reena Prasad, Rishi Prasad, Shubha Shah, and Poonam Devi—were taken to Dibrugarh Medical College for more advanced medical care.

While investigators continue their probe, the cause of the incident remains unknown. The fire started while Sachin Saha, a local, was getting married. After visiting the area, Tinsukia's Deputy Commissioner declared the occurrence suspicious. The district magistrate has been tasked with spearheading the investigation.
