Assam: Not A Single Penny Spent By BJP On Paying Hotel Bills of Maha MLAs, Says CM

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asserted that neither the ruling BJP nor the Assam government will be paying the bills of the rebel MLA's from Maharashtra who are lodging at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati from June 22 onwards.

The Assam CM also distanced himself from the political storm that has unleashed in Maharashtra.

"Why should be involved in whether there is BJP's support in Maharashtra or not. My only concern is that if some guests have come to Assam, they should be staying securely and comfortably. Tomorrow, even if Congress comes, I will extend the same welcome," Sarma said.

It has been speculated that the hotel bills of the rebel Shiv Sena legislators is on the rise with fears that it will be paid by the tax payer's money.

However, the Assam CM has rubbished all these rumors by saying, "Why will BJP pay the bills or for that matter why will Assam foot the bills. Rather Assam is earning by way of GST from the hotel."

Himanta also used this opportunity to hit out at journalists, accusing them of turning a blind eye to the devastating flood situation prevailing in Assam.

He alleged that the catastrophic flood situation in the state was neglected and was not given the coverage it deserved and added that the woes came to the fore after the arrival of the Maharashtra legislators in Guwahati during the ongoing flood.

"I am grateful Shiv Sena came at this time because of which Assam's flood was highlighted," Sarma said.
