The inaugural ceremony was graced by Joyanta Basumatary, Member of Parliament, Kokrajhar, who appreciated NTPC’s continued commitment to social development in the region. He remarked that the newly-inaugurated healthcare units would provide timely medical attention to people in need, especially the poor and underprivileged. He also stated that such projects reflect the importance of public sector contributions in building medical infrastructure in underserved regions.

Masanda M. Pertin, Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar, noted that the facilities inaugurated were not just infrastructural additions but symbols of timely intervention. She expressed her gratitude to NTPC for its proactive and consistent support to the district. Pertin further added that the partnership between the administration and corporates like NTPC plays a pivotal role in the district’s development journey.

He said that the region had long awaited such critical care facilities and that NTPC’s initiative had addressed an important public need. He urged all stakeholders to ensure that the infrastructure is maintained well and reaches those who need it the most.

Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head, NTPC, stated that the initiative was a reflection of NTPC’s ethos of inclusive development. Maitra mentioned that NTPC not only generates power but also empowers lives through its meaningful CSR engagements. The facilities inaugurated at Kokrajhar Medical College are part of a broader commitment to ensure that the benefits of development reach every corner of society.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Atul Chandra Baro, Principal and Chief Superintendent; Prof. Dr. Bhubaneswar Saikia, Superintendent; Kabita Deka, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar; Pratibha Brahma, Chairperson, Kokrajhar Municipal Board; Onkar Nath, AGM (HR), NTPC-Bongaigaon; and Dr. Deepayan Paul, Chief Medical Officer, NTPC-Bongaigaon, along with senior officials from NTPC and hospital representatives. The Burn HDU, developed at a cost of Rs. 60.49 lakh, is equipped with modern equipment including ICU beds, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, crash carts, BiPAP machines, syringe pumps, scrub stations, and patient mobility support systems. This dedicated unit is expected to significantly enhance the region’s capacity to handle burn-related emergencies.

Similarly, the Eye Operation Theatre, upgraded at a cost of Rs. 9.51 lakh, features aluminium cabins, autoclaves, an RO water purifier, a washing machine, and a scrub station. The OT is expected to cater to over 200 surgeries annually, improving ophthalmic care for the population in and around Kokrajhar.
