DIBRUGARH: The 63 Assam Battalion NCC, in collaboration with the Dibrugarh Fire Brigade, conducted a successful fire safety awareness session at Dibrugarh University on July 21 as a part of the NCC Combined Annual Training Camp-70 (CATC).

The interactive session witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 500 NCC cadets from various institutions across the region. The objective of the programme was to educate cadets about fire hazards and the precautionary measures required to prevent fire-related incidents, both in daily life and emergency scenarios.

The session featured a lecture-cum-demonstration by the fire brigade team on key topics such as types of fire, proper use of fire extinguishers, evacuation techniques, and basic firefighting methods. The team also performed live demonstrations of firefighting equipment and techniques for handling emergencies in different environments.

The awareness programme aimed to instill a sense of preparedness and responsibility among NCC cadets, equipping them with essential life-saving skills. Officials from the 63 Assam Battalion appreciated the efforts of the Dibrugarh Fire Brigade in making the session impactful and informative. Such collaborative efforts between defence and civil agencies play a crucial role in building community resilience and disaster readiness among the youth.

Similarly, under the supervision of the NCC Directorate North Eastern Region, the 63rd Assam Battalion NCC had a successful firing practice session at the S A Firing Range, Dibrugarh University, earlier in January.
