GUWAHATI: On April 14, the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government will conduct a large-scale celebration to honour the forthcoming Rongali Bihu, during which 11,000 dancers would perform in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In terms of the gathering of more than 10,000 Bihu dancers, the show is anticipated to be the biggest in the Northeast and could perhaps make it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

All governors, chief ministers, union ministers, diplomats from the G20 and ASEAN countries, as well as other dignitaries, have received invitations to the event, which will take place in Guwahati's Sarusajai indoor stadium.

To ensure that the event is a huge success, Chief Minister Sarma is personally observing the preparations. The CM wrote in his tweet, "Preparations are on in full swing for April 14, when over 11,000 Bihu dancers will create history by performing together at Sarusajai Stadium in august presence of Hon PM @narendramodi ji. Reviewed arrangements at the venue and asked officials to make the event truly memorable."

A top state government source with knowledge of the development stated, "The chief minister has been watching the preparations to the minutest details so that Bihu, the lifeline of Assamese culture, is known to the whole globe."

He additionally observed the dancers' practise. Hoardings promoting the event have been placed in Delhi Metro coaches, bus stops, key roadways, and airports as part of the Assam government's advertising blitzkrieg in the nation's capital.

Kolkata and Mumbai will both start a comparable effort. This occasion follows the national capital's November 2017 commemoration of Ahom General Lachit Barphukan's 400th birthday.

Rongali, also known as Bohag Bihu, which is celebrated throughout Assam and several other northeastern regions in the middle of April, marks the beginning of the Assamese new year.
