Assam Police collects over ₹ 3 crore from Lockdown rule violators

Guwahati: The Assam Police has collected over Rs 3 crore in fine from those violating lockdown rules in the state.

As on May 31, the Assam Police has collected Rs 3,17,10,850 from violators, out of which Rs 35,98,700 has been collected from those not wearing masks. 3,208 incidents of lockdown violations have been reported in the state so far, and 2,670 cases have been filed. At the same time, 4,609 people found infringing the rules have been arrested.  Meanwhile, 30,256 vehicles and 34 boats have been detained by the Assam Police personnel for violating rules.

Lockdown 5.0:

Meanwhile, the Centre has chosen to extend the lockdown in containment zone areas, while lifting restrictions across the country in a phased manner. In the first phase of easing of restrictions, religious places and other places of worship will be opened to the public; hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality services shall also be re-opened in this phase. Shopping malls shall also be reopened. This phase will come into effect on June 8 onwards.

In the second phase of lifting the curbs, schools, colleges, educational, training, and coaching institutions will be opened after consultations with the states and Union Territories. The administrations should hold consultations with the concerned stakeholders. Based on this feedback, a decision on re-opening these institutions will be taken in the month of July.

In the next phase, the Government will mull the re-opening of international air travel of passengers, except as permitted by the Home Ministry; metro trains; cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums, assembly halls, and similar places. Social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious functions, and other large congregations will also fall into this category.

National Directives for Covid-19 Management:

The directives given by the Centre which were first imposed when the curbs came into effect shall continue to remain in force. The will include the mandatory wearing of face coverings or masks, maintenance of at least 6 feet distance between people in public places, prohibition of large gatherings (limit of 50 people in marriages and 20 people at funerals). Moreover, spitting and consumption of liquor, gutkha, tobacco will remain prohibited in public places.
