Assam Police Day Programme held In Darrang

MANGALDAI: With the flagging of the prize money field and track events at Mangaldai Police Reserve on Monday by Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan, the two-day programme to mark the Assam Police Day-2019 began with enthusiasm and fervour. Synchronizing with the State-wide celebration of Assam Police Day on October 1, the Darrang Police organized a two-day programme.

Inaugurating the prize money athletics competition, Darrang Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan highlighted the activities and the achievements of the Assam Police. “It is a matter of pride that we have been entrusted to serve our own people and as a cop. We are proud to be a member of Assam Police,” he added.

Today’s competitions included the 100 metre and 200 metre race for men and women and other field events. A good number of young and energetic cops, including women in different ranks, took part in the competitions. Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Ujjwal Pratim Barua, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Border) Anita Hazarika, Masters Athlete of international repute, Biren Medhi, mediaperson Bhargab Kumar Das and other senior officials of police also attended the inaugural programme.

Earlier on Monday morning, all the police personnel, leading citizens and members of VDP took part in a massive rally to create awareness on Swachh Bharat Abhijan covering all the thoroughfares of Mangaldai town. Officer in-charge of Mangaldai Police Station, Inspector Niranjan Barua, with active cooperation of deputy adviser of VDP, Mukut Saikia organized the rally on behalf of Darrang Police. A district-level prize money quiz competition and a mass rally, besides the ceremonial programmes, will mark the second day’s programme of Assam Police Day on Tuesday.
