Guwahati: "Stop killing yourself, say no to drugs. It's a trap, not an escape", warns Zubeen Garg in Assam Police's latest musical anthem against drug abuse, in which a string of A-listers appeal people not to fall into the habit of using drugs.

The song also features other prominent musical talents of the region such as Angaraag 'Papon' Mahanta, Dikshu Sharma, and Bornali Kalita.

The singing stars have been joined by the who's who of the Assamese film industry and all have pitched in to join the war against drugs through this soaring anthem. In the song, which is sung partially in English, partially in Assamese, partially in Hindi, the musicians appeal the citizens not to take up drugs as a recreational pastime and warn against its ills.

The upbeat song with a catchy hook with both pop and rock elements makes this appeal in a dazzling manner and is sure to resonate among the youth of the state, who are the prime abusers of outlawed drugs.

The song was shared by Assam DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta who shared the clip along with the caption, "In continuation of Assam Police efforts to raise awareness on Drug Abuse and Trafficking, it gives me immense pleasure to launch a unique song, featuring Papon, Zubeen Garg, Dikshu Sarma, and Bornali Kalita."

This timely song has come when the usage of drugs has reached an all-time high in the state. The unchecked rise in the smuggling of foreign cigarettes and synthetic drugs has led to an increasing number of cases being registered in the state under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Additionally, the detection of more and more cases of smuggling and dealings of banned substances has necessitated that the police try every trick in its book to try and control the drug menace and this musical number certainly seems like a step in the right direction.
