Guwahati: Assam Police on Thursday apprehended a United Liberation Front of Asom - Independent (ULFA-I) linkman from Bengaluru in Karnataka.

As per reports, the arrested person has been identified as Rajit Gogoi and is said to be a close aide of ULFA-I cadre Gyan Asom alias who was recently killed in an encounter in Tinsukia's Kakopathar last Friday.

Gogoi is a resident of Sadiya Town in Assam and was nabbed from Bengaluru based on a specific input.

Notably, it has also come to the fore that a case has already been registered at the Bordumsa police station.

Gogoi was allegedly involved in suspicious and illegal cash transactions with another person linked with the ULFA-I.

He has been accused of transferring/depositing Rs 30,000 into Arun's account which was later withdrawn and handed over to Gyan Asom.

Meanwhile, another person named Arun Gohain has also been nabbed in connection with the case.
