Assam Police Nabs Drug Peddler with 32.63g Heroin at Railway Gate in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In a major operation, a Central Guwahati Police Department (CGPD) team from Panbazar PS nabbed Sibu Sarkar at 2 No Railway Gate with 24 vials of heroin (32.63 gms) and Rs 490 in cash. Legal action has been initiated against him.

In another anti-narcotics operation led by OC Mankachar PS & team, an e-rickshaw was intercepted carrying 54 codeine cough syrup bottles & 180 Nitrazepam tablets. Seizure videographed, FIR lodged.

Similarly, anti-narcotics operations were conducted by OC South Salmara PS and staff at Dhenarkuti, seizing 57 g of heroin and mobiles, among other things. Police authorities arrested two allegedly suspected individuals and lodged an FIR against them.

Meanwhile, acting on intelligence, a joint operation by the East Guwahati Police District's (EGPD) Basistha Police Station and the STF led to the arrest of three drug peddlers named Khirud Doley (25), Rituraj Patir (23), and Deka Bhaskar Pegu (28) from Khanapara and Rukmininagar.

During the operation, the authorities seized 72 vials of heroin, 31 empty vials, Rs. 13,840 in cash, 2 mobile phones, and 1 scooty (AS01ET1156).

A West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) team from Jalukbari PS raided a hideout at Pandu Cabin near Fire Brigade Station last year in December. The team seized a sizeable quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a person named Purnima Boidya of Pandu.
