GUWAHATI: Assam Police caught and sent back five illegal immigrants from Sribhumi district on Friday. Among them were four Rohingyas and one Bangladeshi national. This action is part of the state's efforts to keep a close watch on the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Confirming the action, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) and stated, "Five illegal infiltrators pushed back. Maintaining strict vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border, @sribhumipolice apprehended 4 Rohingya and 1 Bangladeshi near the border and pushed them back."
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Raazzak, Saddam Hussein, Moktul Hussain, Nurul Amin, and Hafsa Bibi. Assam Police said they are strengthening border security to stop illegal entry into India.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Assam Police, under strict border surveillance, nabbed a Bangladeshi national trying to enter the state illegally. Identified as Rupa Sathi, the person was quickly sent back, preventing the illegal entry into India.
Assam Police and border security agencies stepped up their vigilance to foil illegal entry and protect the state's borders. In recent months, they had enhanced security at porous border points by using advanced monitoring methods and adding more personnel to spot and prevent illegal movement. Reaffirming Assam’s firm stance on the issue, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, "Zero tolerance for illegal infiltration."
