Assam Police Recoveres Kidnapped Youth From Amsing TE

GUWAHATI: A youth from Guwahati named Ankur Surana was invited to a party by his friends on February 1. When he did not turn up at home on the next day, his father Manoj Surana lodged a missing complaint with the Bharalumukh Police station on February 2.

While the police were still working on their leads, the sister of the victim received an internet-based call demanding a ransom for the life of the victim. The supposed kidnappers asked them to deposit the amount to the account details they gave. They sent a QR code linked to a digital wallet and demanded a ransom of 104 Bitcoins to the wallet which comes to Rs 19 Cr.

Following up with their leads, Guwahati Police recovered Ankur Surana from the Amsing Tea Estate located on the edge of Guwahati city. According to the reports, he was tied up and had several injuries on his body when he was rescued.

Diganta Barah, the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati informed that the victim was invited to a party in the PRP Valley in Amsing. He was abducted on his way to the party and confined to a room. He also informed me that five people have been arrested in this matter and 3 more are absconding now. He mentioned that one of his friends was involved in the incident, but declined to offer any more details regarding the identity or current whereabouts of this person.

The names of the arrested people are Rupam Das and Rajen Kaimal, residents of Satgaon, Azaharr Choudhury of Baihata, Haren Das and Gautam Das of Amsing. It has also been mentioned that Rupam Das is the manager, Rajen Kaimal is the cashier and Haren Das is the lesse of a pond for the PK Eco Retreat Resort located near the Satgaon Army Camp.
