
CHIRANG: During an operation by the Amguri Police Station in Assam's Chirang district, police officials recovered a 7.65 caliber pistol and two live bullets buried close to the Makra River in Parbatjhora. The operation was launched following credible intelligence that a firearm was being hidden in the locality.
The operation was initiated on the basis of certain inputs that directed the officers to the area called Makranai in Parbatjhora, as per reports. During excavation, the team was able to recover the pistol and ammunition, which raised questions about possible criminal activity in the area.
Authorities have stated that an investigation is currently underway to determine the origins of the firearm and its intended use. While no arrests have been made at this stage, the discovery suggests the possibility of miscreants operating in the area. The police officials have explained that the handgun might be related to robbers within the vicinity, but there is more that is to be uncovered as investigations unfold.
