Assam Police Recruitment Board issues admit cards for SI job exams

Exams will be held on Nov 22 under the shadow of the massive scam that came to light when the exam was organised on Sept 20 and had to be called off due to question paper leak.

Guwahati: The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam has begun issuing admit cards for the exam to be on held on November 22 to fill Sub-Inspector (SI) posts in Assam police. The exam would be held under the shadow of the massive scam that came to light when the exam was organised on September 20 and had to be called off due to question paper leak.

The SI written exam would be held at the already announced examination centres in the state from 12 noon to 2 pm. The exam would be held in 154 centres to fill 589 SI posts.

The candidates must arrive at the exam centre minimum two and half hour prior to the actual exam starting time. Which means they have to report by 9:30 am (as exams would start by 12noon0 because of COVID-19 protocols.

The candidates of the last cancelled exam will have to recollect their new admit cards.

Admit cards are available on the Board's website and can be downloaded from the site. The order was announced with a warning that anyone violating the norms would be punished as per provisions of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and other relevant laws.

The exam held on September 20 was cancelled within 15 minutes due to the question paper leak. This took the lid off a massive scam. Pradeep Kumar, the then chief of the State Police Recruitment Board stepped down. DGP, Assam Police, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta is now the chief of the Recruitment Board.

Several top Assam police officials including DIG P K Dutta and SP Sanjit Krishna were found to be involved in the scam.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is investigating the case.
