Assam Police seize 7,600 litres of illicit liquor in Dhansiri

SARUPATHAR: Police raids led by Dhansiri SDPO (Subdivisional Police Officer) Trinayan Bhuyan were conducted against illicit liquor on Tuesday. The personnel seized 7,600 litres of the item during these operations.

The raids carried out at Basapathar under Barpathar Police Station led to the seizure of 6,000 liters of illicit liquor. Similarly, the raids at Dhantula under Uriamghat Police Station led to the seizure of 1,400 litres of illicit liquor and the raids at Naojan led to the seizure of around 200 liters of illicit liquor were in the Dhansiri Subdivision under Golaghat district.

Reportedly, all the illegal 7,600 liters of illicit and fermented liquor, seized gur (molasses) and other raw materials — that go into the preparation of illicit liquor — were destroyed on the spot. Meanwhile in this connection, one person has been arrested and kept in police remand for interrogation.
