Bajali: The Assam Police on Sunday seized 92.550 kg of ganja and also apprehended one person in this regard.
As per reports, the nabbed person has been identified as Koilash Das.
A police team of Bajali and Nalbari districts carried out a joint operation at Mahtali Gaon in Bajali based on a tip-off.
The police team seized Ganja from Koilash Das's shop during the search operation.
On August 2nd, in a joint operation conducted by the Central Reserve Police Force and the Assam Police, narcotics worth Rs 15 crore were seized from Assam's Karbi Anglong district.
Besides this, three smugglers were also nabbed during the operation.
A team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) and the Chandmari Police Station arrested one Sahnur Ali of Pub Bhaskar Nagar on Tuesday after a raid at his home led to the recovery of 0.97 gm of heroin and five vials.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a team of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from the Jorabat Outpost of the Basistha Police Station intercepted a Maruti Zen (ML10C9707) with 40 Kg of ganja at Jorabat on Monday.
Police sources said that three peddlers - KL Marwein, Vian Nongrum (both from Mawlai), and Pari Dewri of Khanapara - have been arrested in this connection.
Apart from this, Dibrugarh police on Monday apprehended one person near Puja Hospital in Dibrugarh with 15 packets containing cannabis.
The operation was led by Dibrugarh police station officer-in-charge Raju Bahadur Chetry, TSI along with staff and QAT/171bn.CRPF.
The apprehended persons have been identified as Tutu Medhi alias Krishna(52), resident of Paltan Bazar, Dibrugarh.
He was nabbed while he was coming from Dibrugarh town side by a scooty bearing registration number (AS06AA8261).
"During a search operation we found a nylon bag containing 15 packets of Cannabis (Ganja). The seized Ganja weigh 9.385 Kilograms. We have also seized his scooty," said a police official.
