Assam: Police Seize Banned Phensedyl Cough Syrup Bottles Worth Rs 1 Crore

GUWAHATI: On March 26, a significant number of illegal phensedyl cough syrup bottles were found in Gossaigaon by the Assam Police.

Upon getting precise information, a team of Assam Police reportedly conducted a search operation and discovered the restricted cough syrup bottles concealed beneath sizing sacks of onions on a truck that had travelled from West Bengal.

In Gossaigaon, the car was stopped. The recovered illegal goods are thought to be worth about Rs 1 crore on the world market. Two people were detained by the police in connection with the seizure in the meantime.

Anek and Uday Pratap Singh have been named as the people who were taken into custody.

An anti-drug operation by the Karimganj Police resulted in the seizure of illegal substances estimated to be worth Rs 30 crore. On a tip from Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das, the police located 220 packets of suspected heroin and 80,000 Yaba tablets in the oil tank of a ten-wheeler (TR/02/D/1691) from Mizoram near the Karimganj bypass.

The truck's driver, Shafiq Mia, and handyman Ramnath Goyala were detained along with the approximately three kilogrammes of heroin that was recovered. The authorities searched Ubaidullah's home in Udaipur, Tripura, and discovered a significant amount of drugs there.

The accused individuals have appeared in court, and the police are carrying out additional research to learn more about the illicit drug trade.

The Karimganj Police arrested three suspected drug dealers in the district earlier on March 9 and seized drugs worth Rs 10 crore from them. Partha Pratim Das, a recently appointed Superintendent of Police (SP), who oversaw the operation, stopped a car with the licence plate AS 10 F 5299. The police crew searched and discovered 100 soap boxes carrying drugs coming from Mizoram; they then detained the three drug dealers, Kabir Ahmed, Altaf Uddin, and Qadir.

According to the authorities, the drugs were about 1.27 kg in weight.
