Assam: Police Seize Rhino Horn From Two Traffickers In Titabor

The traffickers were nabbed when they allegedly came to Titabor to sell the rhino horn weighing 700 grams for around Rs 1.5 crore.

Jorhat: Titabor police on Sunday recovered a rhino horn from the Teliyapoti locality and also apprehended two persons for their alleged involvement in the same.

The arrested two rhino horn traffickers have been identified as Azizul Rahman and Rajan Bauri.

Acting on a tipoff, a police team led by Maitrayee Deka, Titabor Subdivision Police Officer (SDPO), nabbed the traffickers when they allegedly came to Titabor to sell the rhino horn weighing 700 grams for around Rs 1.5 crore.

It has been found that the accused Azizul Rahman happens to hail from Dakhin Hengera while Rajan Bauri is a resident of Chutjan Kathni Bagan in Golaghat district.

Currently, the Titabor police has the custody of the duo and both the accused will be presented before the court on Monday, 6 June.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident, a rhino poacher who was absconding since a long time was nabbed by the Assam police on Saturday from Roing in Arunachal Pradesh.

According to reports, the state police carried out an operation based on information they received and arrested a man named Johor Ali.

The police raided the man's house and recovered a rhino horn weighing about two kilograms.

Reportedly, the apprehended poacher was planning to sell the rhino horn to smugglers.
