BOKAJAN: In a major development, the Barpathar Police seized cash Rs 40 lakh for violation of the model code of conduct in East Karbi Anglong on Tuesday.
As per reports, the police seized the cash from a passenger bus during a naka check conducted over NH-36 in Khakrajan area under Barpathar Police Station in Karbi Anglong. The bus bearing registration number AS 09C 2272 was bound to Golaghat from Dimapur.
"The cash was seized from the possession of one Pawan Kumar Sharma who is a resident of Golaghat district. Sharma, a businessman by profession, had reportedly brought the cash from Dimapur. Sharma couldn't produce and documents to validate the cash he was carrying. The Static Surveillance Team has been notified about the seizure," a police officer said.
