BISWANATH CHARIALI: The Assam State Power Workers' Union has extended full active support the one-day token strike call of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Engineers, Employees and Pensioners, Assam Branch to be staged on February 3 to protest against the privatization of APDCL.

Their demands include stopping privatization of APDCL, scrapping of Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and Standard Bidding Document towards total privatization of distribution of electricity, withdrawal the process of privatization of Electricity from public sector to private company in States and UTs, cancellation of all existing private licenses and franchisees in power sector, reintegration of all power utilities in states and UTs with function components of Generation, Transmission and Distribution like KSEB Ltd and HPSEB Ltd, reintroduction of Old Pension Scheme and scrapping of New Pension Scheme, regularization of all contract and casual workers and employees averting legal complicacy like Telengana and filling in all existing vacancies with policy of regular jobs to be discharged by regular employees only.
