BOKAKHAT: A pre-monsoon awareness campaign was successfully conducted in Goriomari and Bartika villages under the Bokakhat Revenue Circle of Golaghat district. This initiative, organized by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Golaghat, is part of a broader effort to strengthen disaster preparedness in seven villages of Golaghat district selected under the Climate Resilient Village (CRV) project.

Pre-monsoon preparedness camps play a crucial role in the Climate Resilient Village (CRV) project under the Assam Integrated River Basin Management Program (AIRBMP). These camps aim to build flood resilience within communities by actively engaging Village Land Conservation and Disaster Management Committees (VLCDMCs), local administration, and various line departments in awareness and preparedness planning.

The primary goal of these camps is to enhance disaster readiness among communities in the seven CRV villages by fostering coordination between VLCDMCs and different line departments. Through these efforts, key stakeholders collaborate to develop flood preparedness strategies and disseminate essential information, including the roles and responsibilities of various departments in flood response and disaster preparedness.

Sunday’s programme saw participation from Arfan Hussain, Specialist from the Socio-Technical Agency -ASDMA, Akash Kr Sharma, Field Officer of Bokakhat Revenue Circle, along with officials from the Veterinary Department, Public Health and Engineering Department, Health and Family Welfare Department, Agriculture Department, and Revenue Department. Their involvement contributed to effective knowledge-sharing and meaningful community engagement in flood preparedness efforts.
