KOKRAJHAR: Preparations are going on in full swing to celebrate the four years of the UPPL-led present government of BTR at Bhergaon in Udalguri district with a two-day programme on December 14 and 15. The theme of the celebration is, “Regaining sustainable peace, harmony and integrity, we are together for your future, to make it better”.
It may be mentioned that the oath-taking ceremony of the present BTR government, led by Pramod Boro, took place on 15 December, 2020. Boro took a plethora of initiatives to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the citizens of the region, particularly, the vulnerable groups and communities. The BTR Government’s vision- “Peaceful, Smart and Green Bodoland”- was translated into flagship programmes, schemes and projects that sought to bridge the gaps, connect the dots and redeem self-esteem and dignity of all its citizens. Macro and micro interventions have been carried out to address the neglect and apathy that had existed for decades in the Bodoland region. Most importantly, tremendous efforts have been expended towards establishment of peace, security of life and harmonious coexistence among the multiple linguistic and ethnic communities of the region. Four years down the line, distinctive change and transformation has become clearly visible in BTR.
The present government has set a benchmark for organizing festivals that provide space for promoting excellence in sports, language, literature, knowledge, theatre, art, and cultural rejuvenation. The BTR Government has created an unprecedented environment of confidence and fulfilment among the youth: 50 youths have cleared APSC in 2024; it was 25 in 2023. Under the Bodofa UN Brahma Super-50 Mission, a total of 382 youths from poor families have received cutting edge coaching from excellent and the best of the best coaching institutions for entering the top engineering and medical colleges of India, and for clearing the APSC and UPSC exams.
Similarly, in the key sectors such as rural development, agriculture, veterinary, health, social welfare, environmental protection, tourism, sericulture, handloom and textiles, the council government has introduced innovative flagship schemes for the benefit of the public.
Meanwhile, a meeting with the EMs, MCLAs and senior officials was held on Tuesday at the office of the Small Tea Growers’ Association at Dimakuchi with CEM Pramod Boro in the chair. The meeting discussed the upcoming celebrations, which will be held on 15 December at Bhergaon stadium in Udalguri. The meeting also took the update of the preparations for smooth holding of the celebrations.
Sources said that the celebration of the four years of the BTR government would be held in all the Block Development Offices, educational institutions and government offices across BTR on December 14, while the grand celebration has been scheduled on December 15 at Bhergaon in Udalguri district. As part of the programme, there will be a cleanliness drive on December 14 with the theme- “My Bodoland, Clean Bodoland” which would be carried out in all the Block Development Offices, educational institutions and government offices of BTR for which the respective BDOs/Heads of institutions will invite local EMs, MCLAs, TCLLC and VCDC members, government officers, community leaders and other stakeholders to participate in the event.
There will also be a seminar on- “My Bodoland, Peaceful Bodoland”. The respective BDOs and educational institutions will organize the seminar talks on the theme. Eminent citizens, who are proficient on the subject in the light of BTR government’s vision: Peaceful, Smart and Green Bodoland, would be invited to deliver the talk. The Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has been invited as the chief guest of the celebration on December 15. There will also be an award-giving function to the outstanding partner agencies during the event.
