GUWAHATI: To maintain law and order, Shri Mrinal Deka, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the East Police District in Guwahati, has imposed a prohibitory order to prevent any disturbances within the Dispur Capital Complex.
The order has been issued in response to concerns that certain individuals, groups, or organizations may disrupt the normal functioning of offices, public movement, and traffic flow in the area.
The authorities fear that planned agitations, demonstrations, and slogan-shouting could disrupt the region, potentially disturbing public peace and tranquility.
To prevent such events and ensure the smooth conduct of daily activities, the Deputy Commissioner has exercised his powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Surakshya Sanhita, 2023, in conjunction with a prior notification from the Government of Assam dated 24.12.2014.
According to the order, any assembly of more than five people, along with agitations, demonstrations, processions, or slogan-shouting, will be prohibited within a 1-kilometer radius of the Dispur Capital Complex unless prior approval is granted by the competent authority. The restriction will take effect from December 19, 2024.
