GUWAHATI: In a heart-wrenching incident that has cast a pall of sorrow over Jagiroad in Assam's Morigaon district, a young and promising district-level football player met a tragic end as he was electrocuted on Monday. The victim, identified as Dhanjit Boro, aged 23, was a resident of Jagiroad and had been garnering recognition for his football skills in the region.

The unfortunate incident unfolded when Dhanjit was inside his home, attempting to charge his mobile phone. It was during this routine task that a sudden and fatal electrical mishap occurred, leading to his untimely demise. Preliminary information suggests that a short circuit in the electrical system was the cause of this devastating accident.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, allegations have emerged against the local electricity board concerning the transmission of high-voltage power in the area. Distraught locals have also come forward, pointing out that this unfortunate event is not an isolated incident. Several incidents in the region have been attributed to issues related to the supply of high-voltage electricity, raising concerns about the safety of the electrical infrastructure in the area.
