Assam: Protest in Haflong against atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh

Haflong: Demanding an end to the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh and the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a three-hour sit-in was observed in front the office of the District Commissioner, Dima Hasao on Tuesday.

The sit-in was organized by the Haflong Sanatani Aikya Manch and was attended by members of 23 organizations of the district, including the Haflong Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and more than a thousand Hindus from the several communities.

People taking part in the sit-in, included the members of the organizations, who carrying placards in their hands, created an uproar in the premises of the District Commissioner’s office with slogans such as “Maulabadi hoonshiar”, “Bangladesh mordabad”, and “We want Chinmoy Krishna Das’s release”.

Present at today’s sit-in were Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Sangathan Mantri Vikram Singh, Ram Singh, Sanjeev Das, Senior Citizen Bahim Chandra Langthasa, Mahila Shakti Mondol. Later they submitted a memorandum to the District Commissioner with their demands.

Speakers addressing the media narrated how the Hindus in Bangladesh are being treated and demanded an end to the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh and the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das.
