Assam: PWD Officials in Lakhimpur Caught Playing 'Ludo' In Office Hours, Claims No Work

Some officials of the mechanical section of the office have been caught passing time during their duty hours playing Ludo.

GUWAHATI: At a time when the majority of people work hard to garner a living and some have lost their jobs due to the ongoing pandemic, can the people who receive monthly salaries on time with job security realize this harsh reality? Unlike the government employees, the life of most people becomes uncertain now.

But you will be surprised to know that a section of Assam government officials has not imbibed the spirit of work culture. Instead, they are passing official time doing fun.

Such negligence of a section of government officials towards their duty has been witnessed in the PWD office, Lakhimpur. Some officials of the mechanical section of the office have been caught passing time during their duty hours playing Ludo.

Allegedly, a junior engineer also joined hands with other employees in wasting their duty hours. Among the officials, some have claimed that they did not receive any work to do.

Otherwise, they work regularly in the duty hours, one of them has said." I am the Junior Engineer of this section and we work regularly," the Junior Engineer claimed who was also caught playing Ludo during his duty hours on journalist's video camera.

Another such thing happened in the Employment Exchange office, Morigaon. The Employment officer has, allegedly, abstained from attending her duty for more than two months without citing any reason.

Some officials of the office claimed the officer just attended the office for three days in the last three months. That has dampened the spirit of the officials. " We do not know why she abstained from attending the office," an official said to the media.

It could be noted that of late the Assam government increased the Dearness Allowance(DA)s of the state government employees to enable them to tide over the price rise. But such financial benefit is yet to bring culture among a section of employees, as some have alleged.
