DHUBRI: Mobile handsets were formally distributed among the Anganwadi workers by Guardian Minister of Dhubri District and Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development and Tourism, Ranjeet Kumar Dass at Dhubri District Library Auditorium here on Saturday.
Addressing the Anganwadi workers, Guardian Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass highlighted the continued efforts by the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to strengthen the nation. Initiatives such as providing free bank accounts to the poor, housing for the homeless, ensuring fair prices for farmers’ produce, and upgrading Anganwadi centers for children have significantly advanced the country in various fields. He noted that the distribution of mobile phones to Anganwadi workers marks a significant step in that direction.
In his welcome speech, Deputy Commissioner Shri Dibakar Nath mentioned that the Poshan Abhiyaan, launched in 2018, has played a crucial role in eliminating malnutrition across the country. It has significantly contributed to reducing child stunting, low birth weight issues, and anemia among children, adolescent girls, and women. He informed that there are a total of 2,135 Anganwadi centres in the district, with 2,067 Anganwadi workers and 1,696 Anganwadi helpers actively delivering services.
Every month, around 2,35,000 beneficiaries—including pregnant women, lactating mothers, children aged 0-6 years, and adolescent girls—are being benefited from the Poshan Abhiyaan and other government schemes.
He further mentioned that the primary goal of distributing mobile phones to Anganwadi workers is to enhance efficiency and transparency.
Under the Poshan Abhiyaan, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched the digital application called Poshan Tracker App. This app is a robust digital monitoring tool designed to strengthen supervision.
“It also provides real-time data collection and digital records for services rendered to pregnant women, lactating mothers, children, and adolescent girls and supports GPS-based records and other functions”, Nath informed.
Hence, mobile phones of advanced quality are being distributed to the Anganwadi workers to support this purpose, Nath added.
