Assam: Rape accused Devid Bright Basumatary, sentenced for life

KOKRAJHAR: Devid Bright Basumatary, a rape accused of Saraibil of Kokrajhar district has been given life imprisonment by a court here. He was the owner and principal of a private school. An FIR was lodged against Basumatary for his alleged involvement in rape of minor girls of his schools in 2022 and cases have been registered against him. He was convicted under case no 15/2022 and 20/2022 for sexually abusing 4-5 minor students of his school in 2022. In the ongoing trial, he was given life imprisonment on Monday.
