Guwahati: In the wake of incessant rain which has caused severe landslides, the recruitment rally in Dima Hasao, was postponed on Sunday.

In this regard, the office of the Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao District, issued a notice.

"Due to bad weather conditions and incessant rains which has caused a severe landslide and also blockade of the rail line and roads in the district, the scheduled recruitment rally of 16th May-2022 has been postponed and is now re-scheduled to 23.05.2022," the notice dated 15th May read.

''All candidates of 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th May-2022 whose PST/PET (Physical Endurance Test) have been re-scheduled to the 16′ May-2022 are also re-scheduled to 23 May-2022", it added.

Due to heavy downpours in the state, several districts are witnessing flash floods which are affecting people by not letting to conduct their regular work with ease.

According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), Cachar, Dhemaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Nagaon and Kamrup (Metro) have been affected due to floods and three people including a woman died in landslide incidents in the Haflong area in the Dima Hasao district on Saturday.

As many as three people lost their lives, while 24,681 people in 94 villages in six districts were affected due to incessant rainfall accompanied by flash floods in Assam.

In the Dima Hasao district, there have also been reports of landslides in areas such as Haflong - New Kunjung, Fiangpui, Moulhoi, Namzeurang, South Bagetar, Mahadev Tilla, Kalibari, North Bagetar, Zion, Lodi Pangmoul villages. Approximately up to 80 houses are severely affected.
