Assam: Regional Meteorological Centre Predicts Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall for Next 3 Days

Guwahati: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati, on June 28, has warned that the state of Assam is likely to witness an increase in rainfall activity for the next three days.

According to RMC, an east-west trough now runs from northwest Rajasthan to west-central Bay of Bengal off the southern coast of Odisha across Northeast Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and extends upto 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Another secondary trough at mean sea level pressure runs from East Uttar Pradesh to North East Assam.

RMC's special weather bulletin said that widespread rainfall coupled with thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy to very heavy with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places will most likely continue over Assam during the next 72 hours.

Earlier today, Chief Minister Sarma visited flood relief camps at No 425 Medhikuchi Model Primary School and Primary Health Camp at Bhabanipur.

He said that Rs 9 crores assistance has been sanctioned for strengthening the embankment of Pahumara River and the construction of a proper road. He also assured of providing assistance to reconstruct damaged roads.

The chief minister also inspected the flood situation at Charalpara Nayapara at Bhabanipur and took note of the hardships faced by the people.
